The famous Thomson’s Fall is located in Nyahururu, Laikipia. The scenic waterfall on the Ewaso Ngiro river which drains from the Aberdare Mountain Range ,Just next to it is the Thomson’s Falls Lodge which was built by Joseph Thomson, after he discovered the Thomson’s Falls. He was the first to reach the falls in 1883 and named them after his father.
The area was originally a part of the indigenous forest surrounding the famous falls which to date is a home to many animals like the Columbus monkeys, Elephants in the Marmanet South forest, hippos at the Hippo pool and various bird species. This was a haven for Thompson who decided to settle here and went ahead to construct a sprawling cottage facing the falls.
PROPOSED ITINERARY
- 6.00am: Meeting in town at Gallitos near Jeevanjee Gardens.
- 6.15am: Depart Nairobi for Thomson’s Falls- Nyahururu
- 7.00am: Stopover at view point on Great Rift Valley Escarpment
- 7.15am: Proceed to Thomson’s Falls
- 10.30am: Arrive at the Thompson’s Falls and enjoy the scenic lush green grounds
- 11.00am: Proceed to hippo pool to view the many hippos wallowing in the water
- 01:00 pm: Buffet Lunch at the Thompson falls lodge
- 03:00pm: Depart for Nairobi
- 06:00 pm: Arrive in Nairobi
